BPM Tapper

Tap a rhythm to estimate its BPM, review the intervals and stability, then copy or lock the result.

How tap tempo is calculated

Tap at least three times with the mouse, touch screen, Space, or Enter. The page keeps up to 24 recent taps, excludes intervals under 120 milliseconds or over 2 seconds, and converts the median valid interval into a whole-number BPM estimate.

The default session resets after a 6-second pause and holds the last result for 12 seconds. Those timings can be changed, and recent results are stored in this browser until cleared.

BPM Tapper or Metronome?

BPM Tapper measures the rhythm you provide. The online metronome produces a steady audio and visual beat at a selected BPM, time signature, and subdivision. Use the tapper to find a tempo, then set that number in the metronome.

Measurement limits

The estimate includes browser scheduling and mouse, touch, or keyboard input latency. Tap several steady beats and treat the result as a practical tempo estimate rather than certified musical measurement.

BPM tapper FAQ

How many taps are needed for a BPM result?

The tool needs at least three taps that produce two valid intervals. More steady taps usually make the median-based estimate more representative.

How are accidental taps handled?

Gaps shorter than 120 milliseconds or longer than 2 seconds are excluded. The BPM uses the median of the remaining intervals so one irregular tap has less influence.

When does a tap session reset?

The default reset pause is 6 seconds. The last result is then held for 12 seconds, and both timings can be changed in settings.

How is this different from the metronome?

BPM Tapper estimates the rhythm you enter with mouse, touch, or keyboard taps. The metronome generates a steady beat at a BPM you select.
